There's been a launch at Whitby! This shot from Martin Ashburner suggests that Virtuous might be suffering from an identity crisis of the ship or rocket variety.

River and rail
River and rail curve out of Whitby to journey up the Esk Valley. Steam locomotives linking with the North Yorks Moors Railway were reintroduced to this line a few years ago. Thanks again to Martin Ashburner for this one.

When two walk together 2
Another of Martin Ashburner's photos of Whitby taken from the west cliff. There are so many features to this one, but I'll leave you to notice them.

Whitby beach huts
Looks like they've been repainted. Apparently the council is going to subcontract the management and lettings; this will almost certainly mean higher costs for the locals who rent the huts every year. They are so popular that very few are left for holidaymakers. Thanks to Martin Ashburner for this and other recent shots.
